O' :-bear Sir: The rules and regulations governing the handling of Ethyl Fluid prescribe the use of a B-urrel Type Gas Ii/Task with canisters containing act ivated charcoal which we are using at our Mixing Plants. I would like to have your opinion as to the practibility and safety of using in stead of this mask a Cartridge Type Respirator and goggles. These respirators were not on the market when these rules and regulations were published, and they are very easy to wear and not so hot during our summer months* Of course, the Cartridge will not last as long as the canisters but I believe, will give the same protection and at the same time be more comfort able for operators. I have in mind the Willson Fume & Smoke Mask equipped with their Cartridge Fomula No. 1. This mask will protect against light fumes which as a rule is all you have around Mixing Plants as all the mixing is done in the open.
