At our meeting in Charleston on March 29, 1983 we discussed the radiological diagnosis of asbestos-related abnormalities and their classification for record-keeping purposes. Although it would be desirable to have all x-rays classified in accordance with the ILO Classification by a NIOSH 'B' Reader, it is not essential, provided that a scheme is used which allows some correlation with the ILO standard method of interpretation. I am attaching hereto the instructions I prepared for use at RaybestosManhattan (now Raymark Corporation) when I was Corporate Medical Director. If you should decide to adopt the "Tulane" code referred to, you will be interested in the second attachment which is a copy of the paper (unpublished) which I presented in San Francisco in 1979.
