Premier of Saskatchewan Legislative Building Regina Canada S^S 0B3 May 4, 2017 The Honourable Scott Pruitt Administrator of the United States Environmental Protection Agency Office of the Administrator 1101A 1200 Pennsylvania Avenue NW WASHINGTON DC 20460 It was a pleasure to meet you during my recent visit to Washington. I appreciated the insight that you provided in regards to future energy development in the United States (U.S.). Based on our discussion, I agree we can grow our respective economies, maintain jobs and have a positive impact on the environment without the need to introduce new taxes or unnecessary regulations. As discussed. North American energy dominance will require collaboration between the U.S. and Canada focused on all forms of energy. We support an approach to energy and the environment that focuses on technological innovations that can be deployed worldwide, such as carbon capture and storage (CCS) for coal fired-power plants. Saskatchewan's Boundary Dam 3 (BD3) was the world's first commercial, post-combustion CCS project fully integrated with a coal-fired power plant. In 2016, BD3 captured 792,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide. SaskPower's blog provides monthly updates on the status of BD3 (http:/ / www.saskpower.com/about-us/category/blog/ccs-blog/h ...2 pcu-regina The Honourable Scott Pruitt Page 2 May 4, 2017________________ To further explore our leadership in CCS, 1 would encourage you and/or your officials to visit our province at your convenience.
