The study report was indicated to be in final review with negative results indicated. I wrote NTP to find out more about "why and what". Attached is the response from NTP, looks like the government may have some quality control problems with their "suppliers". This letter would indicate the negative results are not usable. T. G. Box 19029 Houston, TX 77224 Dear Mr. Grumbles: In response to your request for information on the National Toxicology Program study on Ethoxylated Dodecyl Alcohol, I would first like to apologize for my delay in responding to your letter. The rationale for testing this chemical, used in the textile industry and also used in some hair grooming preparations, dishwashing detergents, and spermicidal preparations, was because it was a representative of the alkylpolyethoxylate surfactants and also because it had not been previously tested in long-term studies. This compound, however, was tested by a research laboratory for which study results were found to be unreliable; therefore, the NTP has decided that no report would be published. At this time I know of no plans to retest this chemical. Should it be retested a notice will be published in the Federal Register indicating planned testing. I hope this information is useful to you.
