Unfort has taken me far too long to respond, but believing' that I can st provide useful information, the relieving responds to the three you raised: 1. The Asbestos content of MK-3 was 132 by weight of eomDerclSl asbestos fiber. When asked, we have clearly identified that MK-3 did contain this percentage of commercial asbestos fiber. This is done in those cases where the material can be Identified as being MK-3. If there is any question as to the material being MK-3, -4 or -5 (since all three were available in the early 70's) we ask for sealed samples to be removed and sent to us for analysis. This is a simple way to eliminate any doubt. Enclosed is a typical letter sent in response to questions on the asbestos content of ZONOLITE Fireproofing materials. I have enclosed back-up information and a copy of our standard response to questions dealing with M0N0K0TE MK-5. Also enclosed is the Material Safety Data Sheet (OSHA Form 20) for MDN0K0TE. No other response is appropriate without approval by myself or Bruce Williams. 3. My response in Item 1. above deals with the subject of sealers or encapsulation materials. If it is necessary to overspray MONOROTE*MK-5 for use in high damage areas, high speed elevator shafts, weather exposure, at we generally recommend Daraveld C (Fireproofing Bulletin You should know that we propose submitting sufficient qu of Daraweld C to Batelle Laboratories for use in their c over-spray evaluation program. The notices will be sent from Ajax and will in clude Bob's letter, the appropriate MSDS and a covering letter. The covering letter will ex plain that the OSHA requirements may not be applicable in Canada, and that federal/provincial requirements would prevail. In addition, it would provide the customer with a Canadian contac 2. Bob will send me a copy of the MSuS sheet for L03, L04 and B05 and also the text for the warning label on the bag. 3. I will send Bob a list of customers who are to receive the notification for his files.- NOTATION OF DOCUMENT REVIEWER REDACTED Prior to sending out the notification, the following action must be taken: 1. We should notify Drew Webster of our program and suggest he take the same action at the same time. 2. Both Ajax and Vancouver package concentrate for sale to customers. To be consistant, these bags should also carry the warning label. Therefore, it will take some time to make this arrangement. Once this is put into effect, our plant employees will become mare of the tremolite warning. Neither plant has dust control equipment in the concentrate filling area.
