Ross v. fj:-; 14th Ju-''A' Calais 1 i 1 Vinyl Chloride Research Program - Continuation of Multi-Component Studies at the University of Louisvi1le The Technical Panel on Vinyl Chloride Research recommends continuation of the multi-component research program being conducted by Dr, C. Tamburro at the School of Medicine, University of Louisville. This research has as its objectives the design of methods for early detection, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of those individuals exposed to potentially toxic chemicals with the aim of preventing any serious injury, precancerous lesions, or the development of cancer either on a short or long-term basis. The program is designed to identify, at the earliest possible time, potentially harmful chemicals and to lead to a reduction in their exposure based on objective chemical data. This is the third year of a three-year research program and it is the view of Panel members that if this overall program' is to yield optimum results it is important that con tinuity be preserved. The technical proposal and budget involve three parts: A. Research Techniques and Methods for Detection and Prevention of Carcino genesis in Industrial Workers $260,734 B. Whole Body Autoradiographic Study of Vinyl Chloride $ 13,500 C. Vinyl Chloride Metabolism in Isolated Mammalian Liver Cells TOTAL $ 13,550 $287,784 CMA 011440 Administration costs will be covered by funds remaining from the second year of research. The technical proposal, sent to your company's Technical Representative on October 4, 1978, contains additional informa tion on the type of research being conducted and a breakdown of costs. The attached response form lists your company's maximum pro rata share. Should the number of companies participating be greater than anticipated, your company's share will be reduced proportionately. Work under the second year of research will be completed in February 1979.
