V/ITHES1DGE D-T l.t Denartrr.en: n[ R* A* Kho0# MD*, College of Medicine, Eden Avenue, Cincinnati 19, Ohio, Dear Dr. Kehbe: I appreciate very much your comments regarding the continua tion of the present officers of the AIHA, I agree with you that a change in the officers, particularly when there is neither a meeting of the member ship nor directors, would tend to disrupt the management of the Association. Jack Bloomfield and I discussed this matter briefly over the telephone recently and we felt that it would be advisable to go ahead with the election, and as you know, the ballots have been sent out. Due to the nature of our organization, we are particularly fortunate in that there will not be much loss of continuity by going ahead with the election of officers and directors. There will be no change in the Treasurer this year, although there will be a new Secretary elected. I will, of course, be glad to cooperate to the fullest extent with the new Secretary and: try to avoid any loss of continuity so far as this office is concerned. In the case of the office of President, you, of course, will automatically:become President, and since you have been familiar with the Association activities for a number of years, I do not feel that there would be any particular loss of continuity in this office. The new Presi dent Elect would, of course, be placed at somewhat of a disadvantage since he would automatically become Chairman of the Program Committee for the following year*. I believe, however, that you would be willing to cooperate with the President Elect in the arrangement of any meeting which we might be able to hare next year. :In addition to these changes in officers, there will be three new members elected to the Board of Directors. This means that only O1 S UOUO0 R . A Ke hoe,: M D -2- Feb. 26, 1945 one-third or less of the elected directors will be new men. Since the election of officers and directors will involve only a small percentage of the total membership of the Board of Directors, I feel that we are fairly will protected against any serious disruption in the affairs of the Association. In case we are not able to have a meeting in 1946, the problem would be more acute and I feel should be given complete consideration at that time. I believe things have pro gressed too far to call off the election for this year, and since you will be President next year you can give this matter proper attention if it becomes necessary. I have not had any comments from other members of the Board of Directors up to the present time, but if I should receive similar comments from any of them in the near future, it would be desirable to obtain an expression of opinion from the full Board of Directors.
