R&S 142336 CHEMICAL MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION February 17, 1987 Dear Vinyl Chloride Program Panel Members: The January 27, 1987 meeting of the Vinyl Chloride Panel was poorly attended because of bad weather conditions. Dr. Bill Gaffey of Monsanto, Ms. Jane Teta of Union Carbide, Mr. J.C. Delgado of PI*G Industries and I did manage to attend the meeting. The essence of the meeting is covered in the enclosed January 30th letter from Dr. Gaffey. Due to a delayed flight, Mr. Donald Goodman of Oxy Chem arrived after the meeting. However, he was briefed on the items covered, and was in agreement with the course of action proposed in Dr. Gaffey's letter. I have contacted Dr. Ishak of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology to explore the possibilities of AFIP undertaking a study to confirm the types of liver tumors that are identified as angiosarcomas' and other liver and biliary tract tumors in the EHA final report. I will keep you informed of any progress I make with Dr. Ishak. If an adequate proposal is developed by AFIP, we may have a Panel meeting in early Spring.
