Blackpool, England / Dear Alec: I have checked into your question on tests for VC in air. Although you may already have most of this information, here is what I have to report. Please see attached bulletins. The Kitagawa gas detector would be ideal for in-plant use but the range is not what you want. We have written them for their advice on how to get below 500 ppm and will let you know if they have any useful information to impart. The Perkin-Elmer device would probably do the trick but (1) has a flame detector and could not be used in the plant and (2) would, require some calibration work to set it up for VC in this range. Vinyl acetate would also be an interference. Price of this instrument is in the range of $1,600. Alec, I would like to express to you and to all your associates our most sincere appreciation for everything you did for us in England.
