PENSIONER ASBESTOS SCREENING PROGRAM
There have been many questions addressed to the Medical Division requesting clarification and assistance in providing radiology evaluations for those pensioners who are not conven iently located near a plant site.
In order to maintain management continuity of this program, it is suggested that each plant site be responsible for all pen sioners .for whom the site was the final employment point and for those pensioners retired from other Du Pont facilities for whom the plant site has administrative responsibility. The site may accom plish the x-ray screening in its own facilities or refer the pensioner to outside sources at the site's expense. Plant sites with adequate x-ray equipment and personnel should provide on-plant x-ray screening to the maximum extent possible.
Pensioners residing at an inconvenient distance from the plant should be.instructed to request their personal physician to refer them to a local radiologist. The radiologist should be requested to take a PA chest x-ray, interpret the film and send the interpretation and the bill for services to the plant medical department. The x-ray films of those pensioners determined to have abnormal findings should be sent to the medical department of the plant for review by the site's consulting radiologist.
The Corporate Medical Division will be available to assist plant sites in situations where the above procedure is not suitable.
