Figuii! 8 DUST CONTROL J I NEW CONCEPTS J-M's experimental work on improved asbestos fiber handling systems is continuing jn two directions. One new concept is the high density fiber block, which measures 9" x 12" x 16" and has a density of 100 lbs. per cubic foot. The blocks are dust free and consume less space in shipment than normal pressure-packed bags. The second new concept is pelletized fiber. Using a Sprout-Waldron pelletizing machine, asbestos pellets have been produced at Jeffrey Mine with Group 7 fiber, using water as a binder. Pellets have a loose density of 65 pounds per cubic foot and lend themselves well to shipment in closed hopper cars, bags and other types of containers. They are largely dust free. Aside from these new developments and concepts, the Asbestos Fiber Division is anxious to work closely with any of its customers in the development of a fiber handling system to meet individual requirements. produced -17- JM * 83
