Dear Deputy Secretary Bernhardt,
On behalf of Audubon, we appreciated the opportunity to join you and Secretary Zinke yesterday as part of the conservation roundtable, and we'd like to extend a thank you for your engagement with us and other organizations.
One issue I wanted to raise to the group was our appreciation for your leadership and that of the Secretary's to secure the Colorado DCP. We appreciate it very much. Your team is terrific.
A second issue I wanted to raise with you after the meeting, but didn't get the chance, is the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. As you know, Audubon has a 100-year history of involvement with the Act and with bird conservation and management generally, and we have ongoing questions and concerns about the current policy. According to the publication of the Fall 2018 Unified Agenda, the Department intends to pursue a rulemaking in the near future on this issue.
I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this issue at a convenient time. Please let us know if you are available to meet.
Best regards, David
