Deliberative Process / Ex. 5 i_____________________________________________________________________ I lobbied DO! on the issue and some Hill offices as well. Energy Fuel's uranium mill bordered Bears Ears on one side and their mine bordered the monument on the opposite side. Their access road to the mine was through the monument and the radiation monitors for the mil! were inside the monument (they need to have constant access to their monitors, under NRC regulations). We lobbied for the boundaries to be moved slightly so that they would have access on the road and to their monitors. Andrew R. While you are not at EPA yet, nor is this an EPA issue - I would be happy to either connect you with Juliet to talk on background (and can facilitate if you want) - or send along background inform ation to Juliet about any role you did (or did not) have on this issue. I would suggest that j Deliberative Process / Ex. 5 I -------------------------------D--e-l-i-b--e-r-a--t-i-v--e--P--r-o--c--e--s-s--/--E--x-.--5---------.--------------------- -i-Please eith'r'snd'm^ ` information you have - or feel free to call me directly at Ex. 6 Thank you - Liz From: Eilperin, Juliet [mailto:junet.Eilperin@vjashpost.coml Sent: Friday, December 8, 2017 11:08 AM To: Bowman, Liz <Bowman.Uz@ep3.gov> Subject: hey, I just wanted to mention that I am doing a non-EPA story that mentions Andy Wheeler's lobbying role from earlier this year It's related to the decision on Bears Ears, he represented a uranium processing firm that lobbied to reduce the monument's boundaries. I've put in a request to DOI, and they're working on it, but I just thought I'd mention it. EPA did not play a role in the decision, obviously, so I don't think that there's a need for a specific EPA comment. And a couple other small questions (on the Pruitt story), related to regional offices. The administrator has yet to visit one, correct? And Ryan had mentioned that last week Bill Wehrum visited his office's staff in Ann Arbor--I know a lot of the air and radiation staff works there. Has he gone to the office in NC, where another chunk of the office's staff is based? Thanks so much, Sierra Club v.
