As you know, we currently have a gas chromatography/mass spectrometry method for furans in PCBs. One of the shortcomings of this procedure is that the separation of furans is incomplete from PCBs which requires the use of mass analysis for quantitative measurements. For routine plant use, a refined GC method which will provide total separations is needed. Jim Mieure advises that at least 3 man weeks would be required to develop a suitable procedure with a 50/50 chance of success. Please let us know where this project stands and if work should be initiated.
