Dear Mr. McAllistert In reference to our telephone conversation, rogaxxiing our regulations for placing lead warning signs on pumps dispensing gasoline treated with tetraethyl lead, we are enclosing copy of a letter written today on the same subject to Service Station Equipment Company, Ltd., which I believe answers most of your questions. Our contract under Section B. Health Regulations, Paragraph (b) reads as follows: 'The handling and mixing of said compound with gasoline and the distribution and sale of the treated gaso line shall be carried out in accordance with the rules and regulations now in existence or which may be hereafter issued from time to time by ETHL and any government agency having jurisdiction in the premises." This paragraph specifies that the oil company, which is a party to it, will abide by all rules and regulations issued by Ethyl Corporation from time to time and I am attach ing a copy of our Exiles and Regulations for distribution of gasoline containing tetraethyl lead which covers the display on each pump of the lead warning signs. When breath ed as a vapor in sufficient quan tity, any kin d of gasoline may produce serious results, an d when allowed to remain in contact with the skin, it frequen tly produces irritation and blistering.
