Hooper Product Engineering Magnetic Materials Section General Electric Company Edmore, Michigan Dear Mr. Hooper: I am sorry that I could not get the attached memorandum (2 copies) to you sooner, for although I warned you that I could not prepare it at once, I had not expected to be so long delayed. A series of other jobs, including an overdue section ox another report, kept me fully occupied and prevented my attending to this sooner. I have set down my observations and opinions in simple and straightforward language, and I believe there is nothing obscure or complicated about either the situation or my advice concerning it. I have been quite frank with you in speaking of certain professional problems and relationships, not because I like to do so, but because these matters have a tendency to obscure the facts and to soften the criticisms and recommendations that should be made. It is fair to say that the professions are only beginning to learn how to get together to do the job in industrial hygiene. Having had these matters to deal with for many years, I am in a somewhat advantageous position. I undertake to capitalize on this only to the extent of giving confidential advice to those who seem to need it. I am not sure what you can or will wish to do about these matters, tut I think it wise and proper to call them to your attention. I am sending two of four available copies of this memorandum to you, and am holding the other two, one for my files ana one for Doctor Marieton (or for anyone else whom you may designate).
