The enclosed analytical reports are part of 3M's ongoing Decatur, Alabama site monitoring program. One details levels of Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA) and the other levels of Perfluorbutanesulfonate (PFBS), Perfluorohexanesulfonate (PFHS), and Perfluorooctanesulfonate (PFOS) in groundwater samples collected from two (2) residential wells located near the 3M Decatur, Alabama production facility. 3M is submitting these reports under TSCA section 8(e). Detectable levels of PFOA, PFHS, and PFOS were measured. In one well, the levels averaged 0.30 ppb for PFOA, 0.08 ppb for PFHS, and 0.61 ppb for PFOS. In the other well, the levels averaged 2.6 ppb for PFOA, 0.77 ppb for PFHS, and 9.2 ppb for PFOS. Levels of PFBS were either not reported due to quality control failures or not detected. Please note that although the reports are entitled "interim", they are audited final reports. The "interim" designation has been applied because the entire Decatur site monitoring work-plan is ongoing.
