Dear Mr. Maehleeks Promptly after receipt of /oars of lovsmber 27th X sent m copy to Dr. Gardner and asked him what X should toll you. Bo was ova/ from Saranac Lake at the tlae and I aa just now in receipt of a letter froa him, froa which X quote the following paragraphs *X shall hare to ask you to inform Mr. Ibehleek of Keasby i lattison Coapan/ that X still find ayself unable to prepare the promised aocograph on asbestosls. The demands upon my tlae are too great to permit ae the luxury of writing. I aa still without two key assistants and can only attempt to keep up with the current work. In the meantime, however, we are still doing a con siderable amount of experimentation on asbestosls and I heH ere that the delay in the long ran will prove profitable.* X know personally that the demands on his time are terrific and that he is shorthanded. As a natter of fact, we are endeavoring to secure his assistance on a problem we face in Southern California where diatomaceous earth la involved. Me wanted him for a week during January hat the earliest he could promise was *perhaps in March*. I am confident, how ever, of his good Intentions and believe me will eventually see the results of his experiments in writing. With kind personal regarda and hast wishes for a happy Christmas season, X am Binowrely, TBiy Vandiver Brown, Secretary.
