MINUTES of the TECHNICAL & RESEARCH COMMITTEE MEETING NATIONAL INSULATION MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION Chicago, HI March 8, 1962 Glass Section The meeting was called to order with the following in attendance: C* E, Ernst, Chairman W, Gubar R. L* Schneider J* M* Barnhart Johns-Manyille Sales Corp, Gustin-Bacon Mfg. Company Owens-Coming Fiberglas Corp* NIMA PRODUCT IDENTIFICATION It was reiterated that NIMA had established a method of identifying flcsihle blanket insulation. It wa3 reported that two manufacturers have given up marking the blanket due to it3 ineffectiveness in prevent ing an individual from substituting blankets of different density than those specified* This subject will be dropped from the Agenda of future meetings, USE OF FIRE RESISTANT JACKETS FOR DUAL TEMPERATURE APPLICATIONS It was reported that evidences of corrosion has been found on the aluminum of fire resistant type jackets used on pipe insulation in dual temperature applications, Gustin-Bacoo, Johns-Manville and Owens-Coming are evaluating these jackets in their laboratories* Reports on the evaluations will be made at future meetings* O.D.'S OF FIBROUS GLASS PIPE INSULATION The Table, dated 7/7/61 was approved and will be given to ASTM C-16 Subcommittee T-8 for consideration* 2 PERFORMANCE STANDARD FOR FACINGS This has not as yet been completed. The subject will be placed on the Agenda for the next meeting. REVISIONS TO MILITARY SPECIFICATIONS Comments have been received on the proposed revisions to MIL-I22023, These comments will be forwarded to the Bureau of Ships in Washington, D. C., for consideration. Proposed revisions to MIL'-1-742 will be circulated to the Committee for approval and/or comment. DUCT LINER SPECIFICATION A copy of the proposed specification will be sent to the Rock Sc Slag and Glass Section for comment, PACKAGING It was recommended that the subject of packaging for domestic and export shipping be investigated* ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
