A fume removal system Including a fan, motor and ductwork waa Installed In the batch ehlorlnator area of Dept. 246 on TSD Job 91370:5906, Job 4066 waa taken out to expend the system to Include the continuous ehlorlnator area. The system waa designed to remove HC1 and Aroclor fumes from the sampling point on the #9 ehlorlnator and two steel sasqple hoods used by operators to measure specific gravities of crude Aroclors. The extension of the system consisted of polyester duct work to an existing steel hood, a new steel hood and a new plastic hood. The exlsting-motor and fan waa used with no modifications. The complete system Is operating as expected with adequate air now at all points to remove fumes. The new steel hood makes It possible for the operators to measure gravities without taking crude Aroclor near food preparation facilities In the control room as they did In the past.
