These were obtained Saturday morning. May 1st, when the patient came to the Hospital complaining of nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. is a twenty-three year old, white, female who a this lead area for eighteen months. In April, 1942, she visited the Hospital complaining of nausea, vomit ing, abdominal pain and anorexia. She was treated by her own physician at this time and complaints cleared up. In December 1942 she was examined because of her work in this area and had a blood pressure of 140/90, pulse of 72 and no complaints of any sort. Laboratory studies in December, 1942, were: H. B. C. 3,880,000 Hemoglobin 78% Urine Alb. Negative Stippling 50/50 Fields On March 2nd of this year she came to the Hospital complain ing of nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and anorexia. Head ache and questionable dizziness were also noted. Laboratory examinations revealed: R. B.C. Hemoglobin Urine Alb. Stippling 4,170,000 84/2 Negative 30/50 Fields On March 31st, she was checked again as part of a survey of this whole Department. She gave no complaints voluntarily. Also on direct questioning, an unpleasant "Sweetish" taste was noted. Her blood pressure was 130/85, pulse 72. She was moderately obese. Laboratory findings were: R.B.C. Hemoglobin Stippling Urine Alb. 4,590,000 88% 42/50 Fields Negative On May 1st, 1943, she came to the Hospital asserting she had severe abdominal pain, generalized malaise, and weak ness. Because of her employment in the area under investi gation, and because of insistence of the severity of her illness she was sent home. Blood and urine samples were taken for examination. We have had previous experience with this girl when she has been ill with colds, sore throats, etc. It has been our experience that she makes much of minor complaints. How ever, we wished to be perfectly certain of her status before considering this as anything other than lead poisoning. We received the needles and bottles which were sent. One of these had a burr on the tip and we returned that under , ,^-K \ P1;'' separate cover. We had to use two needles on Alma Earrows Ai since one of those also had a burr on it.
