The attached report by Mr. J. J. Glick dated January 28, 1958, discusses the necessity for two minor formulation changes and gives the present and proposed formulations. It is my understanding that these must be presented to the Food and Drug Administration. For my own information, by what means did we obtain approval in regard to the presence of zinc stearate? Approval VCAD-3420 Ivory 125 Issue No. 2 File: 4.S Difficulty had been encountered with the processing of the food grade rigid vinyl calendering compound VCAD-3420 Ivory 125 (Issue No. 1). This is the rigid sheeting that is being used in the Sealright Company's milk bottle cap application. In order to aid processing, it was necessary to reduce two components, C-2 and G-62. A new formulation, VCAD-3420 Ivory 125 (Issue No. 2), has been issued to facilitate processing. This new formulation (Issue No. 2) differs from the old (Issue No. 1) in that new optimum concentrations are recommended and ranges are set for the C-2 and the G-62. Mr. J.W. McLaughlin, Sales Manager of Division 52, has expressed con cern as to the effect these changes might have on F.D. A. approval for food use. Your opinions and/or Dr. Nale's are requested as to how these changes would effect F.D. A. approval of this compound for use in its particular food application.
