There were 23 recordable injuries in 1986 FY and 26 recordable injuries in 1985 FY. MEDICAL On an annual basis, all employees from Vista's manufacturing locations, R&D, and many employees from Engineering who routinely are involved with "inplant" activities are provided a comprehensive medical examination by Vista. These evaluations, which include a physician exam (hands-on), are provided at no cost to the employee, and medical confidentiality is maintained. These exams were developed to identify work-related illnesses in people potentially exposed to specific workplace hazards. Workplace monitoring programs include both the evaluation of the individual employee as well as the workplace through routine industrial hygiene programs. Routinely, monitoring for VCM, lead, benzene, total particulates, etc. is performed and results provided to appropriate parties - including the employee. Medical screening programs also are provided to all prospective employees to identify any specific needs prior to job placement. Urine drug screens are now an integral part of Vista's preplacement evaluation. In addition to preemployment urine drug screening, Vista Medical provides assis tance for rehabilitation of employees found to have substance abuse problems.
