Buenos Aires,August 18th,1942 Hugh Fossett,Esq, \ The Associated Ethyl Company,Ltd, Artillery House Artillery Row London,S,,W,l England Dear Mr,Fossett, I omitted to inform you on my return from the States that Doctor Kehoe had agreed in certain cases,at my discretion,to discontinue the use by blenders o the rubber aprons and white caps* This followed on a dis cussion which we ijiad regarding the complaints made by blenders in hot coun tries regarding the weight of the equipment which they were forced to wear, !For your informatipn,ba3ed on the authority which I obtained from Doctor Kehoe,I have agreed to the blenders in Guracao,Aruba and Talara discontinuing the use of rubber aprons and white caps, Doctor Kehoe and I also discussed the possibility of using a different type ox glove3 and a lighter gas mask. As regards the gloves,Doctor Kehoe informed me that he would prefer men to wear no gloves at all rather than to permit the use of a different type of gloves which would not offer full protection and which would give the meh a false sense of security. In view of Doctor Kehoe's advice I have not suggested any change in this respect. In regard to the mask,Doctor Kehoe will only agree to their being replaced by air line masks, I discussed the possibility of this in Curacao and Aruba but we came to the conclusion that air line masks would be cumbersome and offered no great advantage.
