Specht has been named assistant manager for sales of paints, varnishes and related products. Mr. Specht joined the office staff of the Southern Division, Pacific Coast Branch at Los Angeles in 1935. He became a salesman for industrial finishes in 1939 an& department.manager in 19^4. He was appointed assistant manager of the Southern Division in 19^-7 and manager in 19^-8. Mr. Specht was transferred to New York in 1950 and named Company trade sales manager in 1951 He is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles. WHITSON NAMED ASSISTANT MANAGER Henry J. Whitson has been appointed assistant manager for sales of pigments, chemicals and oils. Mr. Whitson was first employed by the Atlantic Branch, National Lead Company in 1932 as a sales trainee at Research Laboratories at Brooklyn. Later that year he became sales representative for lead pigments and oxides at New York City. In 19^0 he was appointed assistant sales manager of dry pigments, Atlantic Branch advancing to sales manager in 19^-2. He became assistant to the Company's sales manager, paints, pigments and chemicals in 19^8. Mr. Whitson received his B.S. degree from Princeton University. NEW SUBSIDIARY ESTABLISHED IN ENGLAND Kronos Titanium Pigments Limited, a new Company subsidiary, has been formed to distribute titanium pigments in Great Britain. All standard and specialty grades of titanium pigments manufactured in the Company's United States, European and Canadian plants will be made available to British industries. The sales office is located at 28 Victoria Street, London S.W. 1 and the managing director is Ludvig Firing, who is also assistant general manager of Canadian Titanium Pigments Limited. CANADIAN TITANIUM PIGMENTS FORMS NEW SALES DIVISION Canadian Titanium Pigments Limited has announced the forma tion of Enelchem Products, a specialized sales division for the marketing of Oncor pigments, Bentone gellants, Dutch Boy stabilizers, Imperial lead oxides, De Lore extender pigments and other specialty products. The sales office is located at lhOl McGill College Avenue, Montreal. James B. Rollins is sales manager. DARAY AND CLARETT IN NEW POSTS AT CHICAGO BRANCH Louis L. Daray has been appointed comptroller of the Chicago Branch and Andrew T. Clarett assistant comptroller. Mr. Daray was employed in 1921 in the general office of the Carter plant at Chicago. Advanced to various clerical positions in the - over - 0000-NLI-000024769 -2 - plant, he was transferred to the Chicago Branch in 1929 as general accountant. He was named assistant comptroller of the branch in 19^9* Mr. Clarett joined the office staff at the Chicago Branch in 1920. He was advanced to the billing department in 1924, the payroll department in 1929 and was named general accountant in 19^9* Mr. Clarett attended DePaul University. BAROID APPOINTS HOUK AND SACKETT Baroid Division has announced the appointments of Clarence C. Houk as superintendent of Fountain Farm plant and mine at Potosi, Missouri, and Earl L. H. Sackett as superintendent of the Houston plant in Texas.' Mr. Houk joined Baroid as a junior mining engineer at Fountain Farm in 1951 and the following year was promoted to senior engineer. Mr. Sackett was employed by Baroid in 1946 as assistant metallur gist at the Magnet Cove Metallurgical Laboratory at Malvern, Arkansas. In 1950 he was transferred to the Fountain Farm plant as superintendent. GITTINGER SALES MANAGER AT CINCINNATI Elmer C. Gittinger has been named sales manager of the metal division at the Cincinnati Branch. Mr. Gittinger, who has been assis tant sales manager of the division since 1958, joined the Company in 1936. After serving with the U. S. Air Force during World War II, he returned to the Cincinnati Branch as a metal department salesman. MERRELL ELECTED TO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE DIRECTORSHIP Claude M. Merrell, Company vice president, has been elected to serve a three year term as a director of the Argentine-American Chamber of Commerce. DAN EDGERLY DIES Daniel W. Edgerly, formerly vice president of Titanium Pigment Corporation, died at Chicago on January 23- He was 8j years of age. Mr. Edgerly was widely known throughout the paint industry which he served for close to a half century and he was largely respon sible for the early introduction of titanium pigments to the industry. When he joined the pigment sales department of the Company's St. Louis Smelting and Refining Division in 1917 he had already acquired seventeen years of valuable experience as a chemist and superintendent in 'the laboratories of paint manufacturers. In 1923 he was transferred to the Titanium Pigment Corporation, a Company subsidiary, and was given the responsibility of developing markets for the just recently developed titanium pigments. He was named western sales manager in 1929 and was elected vice president in 1940. He retired in 1945. Mr. Edgerly received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was a long standing member of the National Paint, Varnish and Lacquer Associeition, American Society for Testing and Materials, American Chemical Society, University Club of New York and Missouri Athletic Club. 0000-NLI-000024770 SAYREVILLE PLANT PASSES SAFETY MILESTONE Titanium Division's Sayreville plant as of January 14 passed the "one million man hour and 131st day" worked since the occurrence of the last disabling injury.
