CHEMICAL MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION August 17,1995 Dear Vinyl Chloride Health Committee Members: The following items are enclosed for your review and action: 1. a meeting availability calendar. We had tentatively set aside September 7th as a meeting date; however, it appears that several Committee members cannot attend the meeting. Therefore, please complete the enclosed meeting attendance calendar for September and return it to me as soon as possible. The meeting is essential because of several critical issues that need to be discussed in addition to discussion of the 1996 budget. There will be a large increase in the 1996 budget due to the negotiated testing program with ATSDR and EPA; 2. the August 17,1995 letter to ENSR asking them to expedite transfer of sanitized version of the master tape from our previous vinyl chloride epidemiology study. We currently are experiencing difficulties in data transfer from ENSR to AEI. I am working with our in house and outside counsel in resolving the data transfer issue; 3. an interim report on Update of Mortality Among Vinyl Chloride Workers from Applied Epidemiology, Inc.; 4. a draft protocol for CMA vinyl chloride epidemiology study. Please review the protocol and call Jonathan Ramlow with your comments. Jonathan can be reached at 517/636-1276. If I can schedule a meeting in early September, we will discuss our comments on the protocol at the meeting; 5. the July 27,1995 response from ATSDR to our submission of the combined reproductive and teratology study draft protocol. It is anticipated that the cost of this combined study along with any neurotoxicity testing component will be about $800,000. We will need company commitments for these studies prior to CMA executing a Memorandum of Understanding with the ATSDR and EPA; and 6. June 1992, EPA facts about vinyl chloride at Superfund sites that were published in August 1994.
