It was organized by industry to conduct and stimulate research (i collect and disseminate factual information cooperate with end assist other agencies active in these endeavors It is o unified, voluntary effort on the part of industry and is a symbol of industrial initiative and leadership in meeting its responsibility to protect the health of workmen, employees of common carriers, consumers, and the general public from adverse effects of industrial pro gress. :The Foundationprovidei. industry with a cenr -tralizfed agency for cdbperotion and coliabota tion in problems of mutual interest. Through its professional staff, research facili r ties, and accumulated technical information, i it assists industry in developing industrial \ hygiene and occupational health programs; provides current information on toxicity, health hazards, analytical methods and control pro cedures; conducts field studies and laboratory research and serves as a common meeting place far seminars, discussionais, training courses, and instruction on specific or general health problems.
