Dear Mr. Schaefers
Reference is made to your letter of February 13, 1941 in which you call attention to the fact that Dr. Kehoe "points out that the Baton Rouge set-up with regard to still enclosures is not showing the results expected, probably because the ventilating system in aggregate bears further correction."
You are undoubtedly acquainted with the fact that the ventilating systems
at both Baton Rouge and Dye Works have been given considerable study during
the past few months. The results of these studies indicate that at the present
time the air balances within the various buildings are approximately correct.
Repairs now outlined for the Dye Works systems should complete this endeavor
and we are of the opinion that when the necessary repairs have been made all
buildings will be in proper balance.
;
,,
We are inclined to believe that the present apparent bad conditions in the buildings are due to the introduction of large amounts of lead sucked in by the air intake fans. This condition, we believe, is due to the dis charge of lead into the atmosphere, by the furnace stacks. It is our opinion that the installation of rotoclones at Baton Rouge and the Dye Works will eliminate this contamination and we would like to reserve any further opinion until these installations-have been put into operation.
Very truly yours,
J. L. Stecher
