President Trump Nominates David Bernhardt For DOI Secretary
Acting Secretary David Bernhardt has been formally nominated by President Trump to head the Department of the Interior. Western Caucus Chairman Gosar (AZ) has said, "Nobody knows the department and interior issues better than David Bernhardt. His intelligence, incredible work ethic and responsiveness are unmatched. A public servant for more than a decade, acting Secretary Bernhardt has worked diligently to increase hunting and fishing access, ensure clean water for future generations and empower local decision-making."
Western Caucus Holds Green New Deal Forum
On Wednesday, March 27, 2019, Several Members of the Western Caucus led a policy forum and press conference to dispute H.Res.109, sponsored by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, commonly referred to as the Green New Deal. The forum provided a comprehensive look at the proposed legislation, with expert matter witnesses denouncing the socialist experiment will cost the U.S economy $93 TRILLION. As Rep. Doug LaMalfa pointed out, "The Green New Deal is so far out of touch with reality, it cannot possibly be taken seriously. This proposal legitimately suggests that we `get rid of farting cows'. This isn't a serious attempt at creating policy or solving problems."
America's energy dominance and way of life will be severely hindered if this disastrous legislation is enacted. Under President Trump, the U.S. has lowered our carbon and overall emissions output while raising its GDP, without the need for a Green New Deal. In the meantime, impoverishing America with misguided actions that will not change anything is ridiculous, and above all harmful, to America's future.
Senate Confirms New EPA Administrator
Just last week, the Senate confirmed Andrew Wheeler as Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. The Western Caucus Foundation commends his deregulatory agenda approach, and we look forward to his commitment of creating a sustainable and clean environment for western and rural Americans.
