SABIN PASSES AVAY Alvah Horton Sabin, oonsulting chemist for National Lead Company from 1910 until his retirement in 1938, passed away in the Flushing Hospital, Flushing, L. I., on July 11. He is survived by two sons, Urs. 8abin having died six years ago. Dr. Sabin was a graduate of Bowdoin College in the olass of 1876. Following his graduation, he taught chemistry and physics at Mpon College and later was in the Chemistry Department at the Dniversity of Vermont* He received hiB: Master of Science degree from Bowdoin in 1879 and his Doctor of Science degree in 1917, He was at one time chemist for the state of Vermont, and, prior to joining National Lead Company, was affiliated with Edward Smith A Co., New York, manufacturers of varnish. Dr. Sabin was ths author of many books and technical articles. He lectured in a number of leading schools including New York University, University of Michigan, Purdue University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was an original member of the Chemist Club of New York, and had served as vice-president, director and member of the council of the American Chemical Sooiety. I. C. DOREUUS, ATLANTIC, DIES Wallace C. Doremus, member of the sales department of the Atlantic branch, died at hie home in Dobbs Ferry, N. Y. on July 7 following a heart attaok. Be was 64 years old. His widow and two brothers survive. Mr. Doremus joined the Carter White Lead Co. as a salesman in 1914. Following consolidation of the Carter and National Lead Company sales staffs in 1929, he was transferred to the Atlantic branch promotion de partment. Jhree years later, he beo&me a member of the sales staff* CINCINNATI REPRESENTATIVE DIES Howard Noel, teohnioal representative for the Cincinnati branch, died suddenly in Louisville, Ky., on June 27, He was 42 years old.
