Partial Stay of and Amendment to the Final Asbestos Standards
The attached Federal Register Notice (51 FR 37002) describes the nine month (until April 21, 1987) 6tay to the OSHA asbestos standards "as they apply to occupational exposure to non-asbestiform, tremolite, anthropholite, and actinolite. Also announced is a redesignation of the old 1972 asbestos standard to 1910.1101, the relevant parts of which will remain in effect until the stay is lifted.
Please let me know if you have any questions concerning the notice, and 1 will make sure that they are transmitted to OSHA. The next Asbestos Task Force meeting, at which we will examine the OSHA field instructions on the asbestos standard, will also review the notice.
