SHEETROCK SW FIRECODE and FIRECODE "C" Panels, H' and %' thick, in various lengths, have special cores for extra fire resistance. For partition, ceiling and column fireproofing assemblies with fire ratings from 1 to 4 hours.
Tapered Edge Regular SHEETROCK has long edges tapered on
the face side in order to form a shallow channel for the joint
reinforcement, thus providing smooth, continuous wall and
ceiling surfaces. Available in four thicknesses, with
rec
ommended for heavy-duty single-layer construction, H' for
standard single-layer partitions, $-' for double-layer applica
tion and remodel work, )4` for resurfacing. Check local
availability.
Foil-Back SHEETROCK Gypsum Panels are madeby laminating
bright aluminum foil to the back surface of standard board.
Used effectively as vapor barrier for exterior walls (illus
trated) and ceilings with foil surface applied toward framing,
in single- and double-layer application (base layer only).
When installed in walls with foil facing air space of M'
minimum, it provides significant thermal resistance values
of 3.93 with
board, 4.04 with Vt board.
SHEETROCK W/R Gypsum Panels are a water-resistant base for adhesive bonding of ceramic, metal, and plastic tile. They are made water-resistant all the way through by adding a special asphalt composition to the gypsum core, and by chemically treating the face and back paper. USG Exterior Gypsum Colling Board is s weather-resistant board designed for use on the soffit side of eaves, canopies and carports with indirect exposure to the weather. It is noncombustible, is quickly scored and snapped fcr application, has SW-type edges and offers excellent painta'uility. Most im portant are its sag and water-resistance advantages--which independent tests have shown to be superior to those of ex terior grade plywood and structural laminated paper hoard.
Installed conventionally in wood and metal-framed soffits; batten strips over butt joints or panel ends inserted into H-moldings. Joints may be finished with Durabond XL Compound if area to be surfaced does not cover structural stress points. Backing strips required fpr small vent open ings. Can be identified by its brown back paper and gray, water-repellent face paper. Fire-hazard classification: 20, 5,0.
Mechanisation is key to vastly improved gypsum panel handling methods. At job-site or tn yard, Prentice boom truck (above) delivers panels to levels where needed. Equipment can reach third-story openings with ease; eliminates costly damage to gypsum panels. Fork lift truck (below) is used in yard for safe, rapid moving of heavy loads. Panels can be stacked to limit of lift truck--usually H to IB ft.--when bundles are separated with I'xS'xiS' dividers.

RC-1 SHEETROCK Resilient Channel is a galvanized steel channel for resilient attachment of gypsum panels--one of the most effective and economical methods of improving sound transmission loss in partitions and ceilings. Channel is pre-punched for screw attachment direct to wood framing. Panels are attached to channel by 1' USG Type S Screws.
USG Metal Studs are non-load bearing channel-type studs roll-formed from galvanized steel, designed for use in various USG Metal Stud partition systems, Demountable Partitions, chase walls and drywall soffits. Also used as framing in furred or suspended drywall ceilings.
One end of each stud is notched (except l%` stud) and knockouts are located 12' from each end to accept pipe and conduit--also available with keyhole cutouts in selected
