Just now, he is at our Pacific Coast Read Office and in all probability will return in a comparatively short time. In the circumstances, I think we should defer further consideration of the matter until we have an oppor tunity of conferring with the Doctor. It is my understanding that Dr. Lanza desires to retire from active service, which he may do by the end of 1948, and By present view is that arrange ments may be made for his continuing with full salary with this Company for the year 1948, giving half-time to this Com pany and half-time to the project in question, if it is desired that he should do so. Being on the Company's payroll, of course he would not receive other compensation. It is suggested, there fore, that we take the matter up with him upon his return.
