Vith real pleasure at hearing from you again, but with dismay at the prospect of my preparing a report of any kind for submission at the International Congress in New York. I am afraid this is quite impossible for several reasons. First, I am on the program for a paper which as yet has not been prepared; one can appear in person in only one program, and being so committed,I can do nothing more. - Second, I have not the time to prepare a paper that would go beyond the paper given in Prague. I must prepare the paper referred to above, and in addition I am beset with other duties that make it extremely difficult to add anything else to my program between now and next November. Third, the time is not ripe, in relation to our experimental work, for me to say anything further on this subject at this time. The problem of the desirable standard for the safe concentration of lead in urban air, generally, is under examination for legislative purposes in this country, and this is not the time to bring forth anything but solid and adequate facts in this relationship. Such facts do not exist, and since I do not wish to deliver a negative report of this type, I think it best not to present the matter formally. (I shall write to Anna Baetjer and offer to speak informally on this subject, if this is desired, but I shall not offer a formal paper.) I look forward to seeing you in New York. I have had a letter from Doctor Claude Albahary indicating that he and Professor Boudene and perhaps yourself, also, will visit me in Cincinnati at some time before or after the Congress. I shall be delighted to have you with them or at some other time that is convenient to you.
