Shaw-GBUCH Per our telephone conversation of 11/15/66, GLC and IR analyses have been completed on the two samples from Frito-Lay, Inc., Los Angeles, California and no major differences were found in the samples. A high temperature GLC (250C) showed the `before1 sample (Findett recovered) to be pure THERMINOL while the `after* sample (from Frito-Lay system) contained a trace amount of some high boiling component. How ever, GLC people admit that at least part of the high boiler found could well be due to column bleeding. To confirm the 'after* sample contained no cooking oil (cotton seed oil), an IR was min and results showed no contamination. An IR on the `before' sample showed a trace amount (<.5$) of an alkyl compound (not cotton seed oil); this is undoubtedly due to Findett whom I understand recover all kinds of fluids. The sum and substance is that we found no evidence of cotton seed oil contamination but only trace amounts of the above mentioned compounds which could very well beadue to a contaminated sample bottle.
