In accordance *.vith your letter of Augusfc 4th, 7/e communicated with the Easton Car & Construction Company regarding their drawings, and quote below from their reply:
"This communication has reference particularly to the ap
proval of Drawing2 DA-255-3, 275, 276, 277 and the unnumbered drawing showing the hydraulic arrangement with the two corrections which you mention in your letter.
"In regard to the first correction //herein the one drawing shows the cylinder stroke as 16"j whereas , it is wh own on another* drawing as 13'1 would advias this drawing has already been corrected. The proper stroke is 16"
"In regard to the second correction v/he rain it is pointed
out that the drawing shows a 1" space between the body's l/4" bottom plate fehel the 3/8" liner with no mention having been made of a wood cushion, v/e would advise that we intentionally avoided mentioning the cushion because we have been investigating a type of liner which we believe will be superior to a wood liner. If you prefer a wood cushion, we will of course insert a wood cushion. It has been our thought that the liner plate will get extremely hot and as a result, the wood will char and the cushion will be of little value. W|iilsa wood cushion might in the final analysis be the only'answer, we believe that perhaps an improved unit,can be furnished by inserting as a cushion a hard asbestos sheet whioh will absorb shock the same as a wood cushion and at the same time will have a tendency of giving longer life and keeping heat away from the batterios.
"This is a detail about which we can later write you. You
can leave it to us to us.e our Judgment, or we will furnish
the wood cushion as you'mention. Your adviee will be ap
preciated."
