REPORT OF THE PHYSICAL EXAMINATIONS
EXAMINATI ONS OF ASBESTOS WORKERS PI Oj/7.Z/t^ AND THETFORD MINFS, QUEBEC
P The report herewith presented deals with the examination of 1^1 aaployees of the Canadian Johns-Ma'nville Co., Asbestos, Que. and 5^ employees of the Asbestos Corporation of Canada,, the Keasby-Mattlson Co. and John son's Mine, all of Thetford Mines, Que. -10 of the men of the Canadian Johns-Manville Co. were examinaed by Dr. D. M. Stevenson and Dr. Joseph Wyatt, who performed the physical examinations and X-ray examinations respectively. The other examinations were all performed by me, except the X-ray examinations. Actually, Drs. Stevenson and Wyatt examinaed 57 men; but since 17 of these men were re-examined by me I am including them In my list. Drs. Stevenson and Wyatt carried on their wo*k in November 1929. My exami nations were done^in July 1930 in Asbestos, and in September 1930 in Thetford Mines.
The Asbestos andThetford groups are very dis
similar, with, respect to age distribution and length of f
service in the asbestos industry, but racially and econ
omically the two groups aret much alike.
Table I gives the age distribution of the men
and Table II the distribution according to length of-servic3
in the^adbestoe industry.
