Subject: Cefic Meeting - assessment of the business impacts of the
Chemical Strategy for Sustainability
Dear Kurt,
As promised.
Cefic, on behalf of the European Chemical Industry has worked with consultants to develop a massive and thorough assessment of
the business impacts arising from the Chemical Strategy for Sustainability on the whole of the European chemical industry.
For the last 9 months, a large number of chemical companies
(producers, distributors and downstream users) throughout Europe have
worked round the clock with the consultant to collect data.
has
now processed these data.
Following as close as possible the Better Regulation Guidelines of the
European Commission,
J will soon deliver the outcome of the first
and largest modules on the proposed changes to CLP and REACH, and
the subsequent Generic Risk Management Approach impact on the
chemical industry and its value chains. Later smaller modules next year
will be published on Polymers, Mixtures and Pfas. The study gives a clear
insight to what the roll out of the CSS will mean for the industry and the
value chains it supplies.
Ahead of the public launch, we would kindly offer and ask for a meeting between October 15th and 27th for Cefic to present the outcome and follow up on the discussions with different Commissioners, cabinets and DG's to whom we mentioned this study would take place.
Cefic aims to release the report in the coming weeks, following green light from its members addressing the market impacts and investor relations issues, which have to be addressed.
