I have also spoken with Jim Knaak about it. From the standpoint of scheduling our studies, I am working with my staffto optimize our ability to perfuse as many animals per trip as possible. As we discussed on the telephone, this will require staggering the start-terminal sacrifice so that half of the animals arc killed on one day and the other half on the next day. In addition, we will probably want to combine two studies to come down during one week. Know that I have the dates for 7 day per week exposures, I will develop a schedule to meet our needs and yours. Once we agree on the schedule, we can finalize that aspect. We are also discussing the feasibility of doing lower concentrations of [13CJ-VC after we complete the initial studies. With regards to the protocol, there are only minor comments. 9.1 The "extra" animals will be distributed to all groups, including controls. 10.4.2 I would much prefer ifwc can avoid using 40% oxygen. The studies could be deemed not relevant to normal exposures. 11.2.3 and 11,2.4 Change "extra" pups to "extra" animals. 11.4 Urine should be stored frozen. It could also be collected on dry ice. 12.1.1 -12.1.3 Change to "extra" dosed and control animals. 12.2 following anesthesia with pentobarbital.
