Mr. R. H. Philbeck of the Meat Inspection Division of USDA has informed us by letter that VBAA-9123 is acceptable to his office for packaging meat and meat food products prepared in federally inspected meat packaging establishments. Since VBAA-9124 differs from VBAA-9123 only by the omission of a minor com ponent, VBAA-9124 can be considered equally acceptable. Dr. A. J. Lehman of the Food and Drug Administration has published a list of acceptable materials for food packaging applications (Quarterly Bulletin Association of Food and Drug Officials of the United States, Vol. XX, Mo. 4, October 1956). Since all ingredients of VBAA-9124 are listed as acceptable in this publication, VBAA-9124 is considered an acceptable film for food packaging applications. I hope we have been of service.
