OBJECTIVE TEST PERFORMANCE TFSTNO. 74-38 OATE 6-21-74 PACE 3 ..OF 9 F-3 Test Objective: To strip VCM to less than or equal to 1 PPM Test Performance: Using a piston diaphram pump equipped with a back pressure valve, the feed was metered into the Luwa Evaporator direclty from the feed container. In the evaporator, the feed was distributed by the feed distribution ring. The product then flowed down the thermal surface while under under constant agita tion of the rotor. The stripped product was discharged into evacuated glass receivers. The vapors traveled counter-current and were condensed in a she 11 and tube condenser which_was cooled with cooling tower water. The condensed vapors were discharged into evacuated glass receivers. A vacuum of approx imately 70 inm Hg. abs. was used to promote distillation. Glycol temperature measured with in line thermometers. All other temperatures were measured by thermocouples and the absolute pressure by a Mercury "IP Tube Manometer. A test "run" was made by timing the rate of flow of the bottoms and the distiilo; and recording all temperatures and other variables during a specific time period. Samples were taken and Tabled appropriately. c DATE o RSV 0017945 PW. MO anv m w ro tg o tT i iM cw r*L to thc in ic h e s t o r ~si ^ j 0s LUWA CORPORATION CHARLOTTE. N. C. RUN NO. Coating of thermal surfaces 'may be corrected by Feeding the unit while . at an ambient temperature and then applying the appropriate heat with regard to feed rate and vacuum. The data obtained so far indicates that acceptable results would be obtained under the following conditions. FEED: 30 tQ 50 Ibs./hr./sq. ft. HEAT: 130F VACUUM: 70 nun llg-: abs . ; {/James F.
