Abstractt
After over four years of extensive tacts in houoa paints, Oslo 18M shown in every respect conparablo durability to
Oslo 35 when used It# for 5#, making up the deficiency of bulk by the use of added extender. Ozlo IBM shows very
slightly better tint retention than Ozlo 35* This *ra attribute to a reduction in the colloidal fines.
Furthermore, laboratory results show that this reduction in colloidal fines permits opening the mill slightly to obtain the sane grind.
Extensive tests, covering all type3 of zinc oxides, leaded sine oxides, mixtures of zinc oxides and basic sulfate white lead, or basic silicate white lead at oil levels from 3 3/h to 5# per gallon And zinc levels from 1.63 to 2,?3# par gallon at three exposure locations Chicago, Kansas and Florida - show that the Ozlo IBM and Ozlo 35 impart greater mildew resistance to the paint than any other basic pigments. Furthermore, Ozlo IBM and Ozlo 35 show a greater factor of safety at lower zinc levels in resisting mildew than any other active pigment or pigments. Calculations based on over 150 different commercial house paint formulas show that
by the use of Ozlo IBM from 12 to IB cents per gallon can be saved without affecting the performance of the
paint.
