la our recent visit with Granny Brown* in Houston* it vu callad to our attention that w had not completely solved our breakage pw> quality problems* at least, to this customer. In car tfMilv 15925 which was a recant shipment* ha had made claim to the railroad in the mount of $362*30 for breakage* Among tha Biui ootad was 16 % 2& A number of carton* of whloh ware completelya* vail aa gecUonal "idles ^hnt wwrellterally crushed bcyoQd~*xiiy ^oHBliruaagt. `"Granny taada tha oamnt that w war* etfiXwit'ppiSf oaaoa vhnra block was pilad on top of pipe covering which ha feels to be a com pletely inadequate Method of car loading.
As I recall* our standard method of loading is to put block on block* and if this is not possible, to make but* that tha block is on tho bottom* In addition, there wore a few instances where sectional covering was crushed where it was apparent that the doorway strapping or loading was at fault. The comere of the cartons were crushed in by the strap. In addition* it was mentioned that the bulkhead had broken in shipment. So perhaps it could have been that the bulkhead strap held after the bulkhead was broken* and thus caused this damage*
In case iflto 5666* trey received some 12 x 1$ which had no canvasses and the cartons wore so marked. They claimed that they had not ordered tham this very.
Ho formal complaint has been filed on this, but certainly If this type of thing continues, we can expect further repercus sions. Will you please take etepe to correct this situation, particularly on long distance shipments.
iVrTVery truly yours,
B. r. Truwa
