Daikin owns the company Heroflon in Italy for the production of PTFE micropowder in Europe. The production of PTFE micropowder, requires a production step where electromagnetic irradiation is needed to break PTFE into micropowder. During that production process C9-C14 substances are generated which are above the concentration limit that is indicated the restriction proposal. For that reason Daikin would need to request a 5 year exemption with concentration limit of 1000 ppb for the sum of C9-C14 PFAS. Please find attached the presentation which explains further the production process and the exemption request.
