A. Kehoe. Dear Doc: We have obtained a sample of scale from tank No. 84 containing 91 octane number gasoline with a lead content of 4 cc. This is a floating roof tank and the steel ladder is permanently affixed to the side of the tank in a vertical position... When the tank is filled with gasoline the-ladder is immersed in the. material, "/hen the floating roof is in a lew position the ladder is covered with a fine rusty material which resembles sludge. The walls of the tank have a heavy scale on them. The gauger has complained that when the floating roof is in a low position that it is necessary for him to go down the ladder onto the floating roof and in doing so _ his hands come in contact with the material on the ladder. At times his eyes will water and he will sneeze which is caused by a dusty condition in the tank. Mr. Newman entered the tank on top of the floating roof and obtained the same condition. The sample consists of heavy scale which was re moved from the walls of the tank, and the fine material is that taken from the ladder rungs.
