McWhorter J. W. Robben C. H. Horrell J. D. Fannin Selected items from the project list were discussed. The status of the remain ing items is to be sent to J. D. Fannin for issuance of an updated report.. 1. D. N. McWhorter reported that a suitable method for purging strainers is.not yet known. 2. H. E. Barrett reported on water purging of a poly in Bldg. 121 which gave poor results. Purging trials are to continue. Steam will be used. 3. Relocation of Bldg. 121 VCM charge pumps outside the building was suggested by S. S. Michels. Fannin will check with Bjorn to see if this is possible under EA work. 4. Fannin reported that Bldg. 121 has been six-plexed for area monitoring and essentially no alarms were recorded after the change. The GC was found to be out of order so judgment of the effect is deferred until the GC returns to service. The possibility of lowering the alarm points was raised for consideration should very few alarms occur with the new sample system/ 5. W. C. Fultz noted that close attention to the GC's is in order until more experience with their behavior is gained. Fannin will submit a MWO for daily check of each GC for two weeks. 6. The use of carbon filters in breathing air was discussed and T. R. Linak confirmed that carbon filters are not desired. Appropriate action will be taken. 7. Relocation of operators' desks into safe-havens was discussed. H. E. Barrett stated that the desks should not be moved. The phone on B-l-C is to be moved into the control room. 8. The use of intermediate relief valves discharging into the recovery system was discussed as an alternate to high pressure alarms for the westside polys in Bldg. 111. L. D, Pringle is to submit .an Engineering Request for the job. 9. Connecting the westside steam jets in Bldg. Ill was discussed. These jets were not previously committed as plans for the west side were not firm. H. Geisen will review the job and advise H. E. Barrett on how to proceed. NGC38093 2- - .10 High flasher tube results were reported for Bldg. 112. It was decided to increase ventilation of the area by taking air suction to one or more dryers from inside the building. L. D. Pringle is to issue a MWO for this change. 11. J. W. Robben and R. L. Martin are working on a program to list PM results by job classification. This has pointed out a need for better under standing of the causes of exposure for certain job classes, the example being the Bldg. Ill recovery operators. L. D. Pringle noted an efficient way to gain the knowledge would be for a production man to follow the job tasks with an OVA. Arrangements for this will be made. 12. J. D. Fannin stated that spot checks on wearing of PM pumps are needed to verify proper use, but that few have been made so far as recent training programs have set forth the necessity for monitoring. L. D. Pringle and W. C. Fultz reported their supervisors were informed on the appropriate action should spot checks find an individual not properly wearing a pump or air mask. Spot checks on PM pumps will be started on a moderate frequency. It was decided that "special monitoring" did not have the same "condition of employment" as the regular PM sampling. Problems which develop because of additional sampling should be discussed with the General Foremen in the area. 13. OVA coverage of a building when the area monitor is down was discussed. Unless other special conditions are present, the regular OVA monitor will concentrate on the building without an area monitor, but will answer 100 PPM alarms in other buildings. 14. The replacement of the mini-computer with a series of micro-computers was discussed. A decision would be made when it is determined that more data will be needed than number of excursions. 15. T. R. Linak reported that the EPA VCM regulation may be late in issue. Now due in late June, the delay could reach the fourth quarter of this year. The actual time of any delay is yet speculative. 16. Due to short time remaining the EPA draft regulation was not discussed as planned. Various provisions of it were mentioned in relation to other items of discussion. 17. R. Mather commented on several points giving a comparison of Louisville and Avon Lake's status. This added perspective is valuable and both Messrs.
