Box 1137 Charleeton} SC 29402 Dear Mr. Mot leyt I've reviewed the letters you've sent me dated J u n e 11, 1970, March 30, 1970 and May 14, 1970, written by Mr, Thomas F, Egan of Vf.R, Grace Company. Unfortunately, I have no recollection of the matter of which Mr. Eger: writes, that of testing their product Zonolite Mono-Kote fireproofing material, 1 suspect that this is because 1 have never tested any fire proofing product, nor have 1 considered doing so. I am not competent to do this and would not know how to begin or how to end. l wouldn't even be prepared to attempt the dust count, My area of interest and expertise is in investigating and evaluating health effects of these and other materials. It may well be that Mr. Egan had contacted one or another of the staff of Mount Sinai's Environmental Sciences Labora tory, capable of undertaking such study. I was Director of the Lab- a tory and a letter could have been directed to me as a courtesy or proforma, a deference occasionally considered to be due to a scientific nabob the time distent With my unawareness of this matter is the extraordinary s-dfement that the test results of which the letter speaks would be held confidential and would not be disclosed without Grace's approval. This would be totally against all policies in our Laboratory.
