April 12, 1985 HS&EA Industrial Hygiene Asbestos Monitoring at Institute Plant Attached are the results of asbestos exposure monitoring conducted on April 9, 1985 while construction employees stripped approximately 20 ft. of old insulation from a 6 inch steam line at the SEVIN unit. Two insulators were used on the job with both employees stripping and bagging the insulation material. Both employees wore cartridge respirators, coveralls, gloves, and boots. The area was barricaded, signs placed, and water spray used to wet the insulation prior to stripping. Both samples were found to contain levels of asbestos fibers less than the permissible exposure level of 2.0 fibers per c.c. of air. Please notify the employees of their exposure results.
