Adding EPA press.
From: Macy, Daniel [mailto:dmacy@opisnet.com] Sent: Monday, April 23, 2018 10:22 AM To: Block, Molly <block.molly@epa.gov> Subject: Query re Genscape
Good morning Molly,
I have a query concerning commodity firm Genscape.
I am working on a deadline of 2:00 pm today.
Background: Genscape in Dec. 2015 was notified by EPA that RINs they produced were "potentially invalid." A little over a year later, OPIS reported Jan. 4, 2017, that EPA said it intended to revoke Genscape's authority to verify RINs as a 3rd party auditor, saying the company verified roughly 68 million fraudulent RINs generated by Gen-X and Southern Resources and Commodities, giving Genscape 60 days to reply. OPIS reported on April 19, 2017, that Genscape did submit its reply to EPA but would not disclose what was in the reply except that it "vehemently" disagreed with EPA's charges and said it played a key role in discovering the underlying fraud.
The DOJ announced Friday that a co-conspirator in the underlying fraud pleaded guilty and was sentenced to jail.
Questions: Since Genscape's reply in April 2017, has there been any further action by the EPA on this case? Does the case remain open, and if not, when was it closed and what was the outcome?
Ex. 6 ! Please call me at;
any questions you might have.
Thank you very mchTryOrTimeT
Best regards, Dan Macy
