Salea daring Vovember oontlnaed the upward trend from the low point for aeveral yeara that waa reached In September. Thia trend
will continue in December and we feel that January will be better than December.
Deaplte unaettled eonditiooe we are optimiatic about our aalea poaition beginning with the firat of next year. Since we went competitive on price September 2*th we have been laying the ground work for regaining ecmalderable of tbe tonnage we were forced to give up. While the volume la not large, booklnga during the current month
for ahipment in the following month have been unuaually good.
For December aalea ahould be over 1,000,000 pounds. Total

Sales of zinc oxide to the paint industry continue at a good rata. Thla la due principally to tha deaand for laadad zinc oxlda. If va could purchase sufficient laad sulphate I believe that
ve could aall 1,000,000 pounda of leaded zinc oxlda par nonth at the praaant tine. Sene of tha lncreaae In aalaa to tha paint Industry
la alao accounted for by bualneaa on laad-free zinc oxlda that ve have regained alnce va baeana coarpetitlve on price.
On tha other hand, aalaa to tha rubber Industry continue to lag. Va beliere that thla la dua principally to tha fact that our largeat customers, noat of vhcat have not purohaaad since V-J day, had
large Inventories an hand at the tine tha var ended. Va expect that they vlll be In tha Market for our zinc oxlda after tha first of the year and thla should aaitarlally Improve our position.
Table lo. 3 gives a breakdown of zinc oxlda sales for Voveaber according to tha three classifications.

Salas for Xovenber vere up substantially over October. As lndleated In ay last report these fluctuations in sales are due to timing more than anything else. Our over-all stock at East Chicago Is lev and ve do not always have the particular grade that the custoaMr cants which sometimes causes us to hold orders over Into the next month.
Sales for December vlll be approximately 900,000 pounds. Since ve started the vblte lead plant on September 15th sales have
been a little under production. Stocks at East Chicago and In varehouses have had but a moderate Increase.
Sales for 19*5 through Xovenber vere 7,865,208 pounds. Por the sams period of 19** they vere 11,753,897 pounds.

Dry white lead sales for the fourth quarter will be
slightly under production. Ve expect this situation to continue through the first quarter although linseed oil Is a retarding factor as regards actlwity In the paint Industry.
